Tax Refund Status

Income Tax Refund Status

Federal Refund
You can check the status of your federal tax refund three days after the IRS accepts receipt of an e-filed return or 3 to 4 weeks after you mail a paper return. Go to  IRS.gov  and click “Where’s My Refund”.  You can also call the automated IRS TeleTax System at (800) 829-4477 or the IRS Refund Hotline at (800) 829-1954.

Have a copy of your tax return because    you will need the following information: 
ŸThe first social security number shown on your federal return 
ŸYour filing status; such as single, married filing jointly, head of household, etc. 
ŸThe exact whole dollar amount of the refund shown on your federal return. 

New York Refund
You can check the status of your New York refund using their online automated service at  tax.ny.gov.  Or you can use the automated income tax refund status: (518) 457-5149, you can also call the number for the personal income tax information center (518) 457-5181.  As with the federal refund inquiry be sure to have a copy of your New York tax return handy for needed information.

New Jersey Refund
Currently there is no online service to check your New Jersey refund.  However you can call the automated refund inquiry system at (800) 323-4400 (within NJ, NY, PA, DE and MD) or from anywhere at (609) 826-4400.  Have a copy of your NJ tax return handy when you call.

Connecticut Refund
To check the status of your Connecticut income tax refund you can go online to  ct.gov/drs  and select “Check the Status of Your Refund”.  You can also call the automated refund system at (800) 382-9463 for Connecticut calls or from anywhere (860) 297-5962.  And have a copy of your Connecticut tax return handy.

California Refund
You can check the status of your California tax refund by going online to  ftb.ca.gov  and search “refund status”.  Or you can call their automated phone service (800) 338-0505 from within the United States, or from outside the U.S. call (916) 845-6500.  Also have a copy of your California tax return handy.
